Ivory…
Imagine if houses were made of ivory...they will be, and Biocer will make it possible.
The ivory that Biocer is developing is of plant
origin – no poaching of elephants is involved. Biocer
is developing a new biotechnology to produce genetically-engineered plants
(GE plants). Biocer’s GE plants will yield
a new kind of wood fiber with the following properties:
» Polished surface,
smooth ceramic finish
» Fire-resistance
» Termite
resistance
» Increased tensile
strength
Biocer will produce these GE plants by inserting
the enamel producing DNA into carefully selected plant embryos. Other
related genes will induce calcium hydroxyapetite
crystal matrix formation within the enamel proteins.
